If you’re anything like me you’ve always been over weight.  I’ve been smaller than I am but i’ve always been over weight or obese as the doctors would say. I wouldn’t say I have the best easting habits but i’ve always taken in more fruit and vegetables then junk, yet the weight never seemed to come off. A few years back I lost about 30 pounds with a strict diet of no added sugars, no bread,or carbs. The problem with that was is that I stayed tired and had a bad attitude. Fast forward to this year I went to a doctor and was diagnosed with “Insulin Resistance”. Before you ask like I did no it is not diabetes but think about it as a precoursor to it.

Insulin Resistance is basically your bodies cells do not react properly to insulin. One of the jobs of insulin is to help deliver glucose to cells to create energy. Insulin resistant cells cant take in the glucose so it leaks out and stores in the body as fat cells. This is a reason why many people eat right and exercise but cant seem to keep the weight off.

The Treatment

              After learning about this I was put on a pill called METFORMIN. This is one of the nastiest pills I have ever had. But it seems to work after a while. It is not a weight loss pill. Changing of eating habits and exercise are also part of the treatment for this condition. The diet can seem very restricting at first. I have to almost entirely stay away from added sugars(not a big sugar eater anyway), flour, chips, and I basically eat a lot of whole wheat products. I’m gonna invest in a juicer so I can start making my own juices again because store bought juices have so much sugar it’s rediculous. I do have small moments where I eat what I want but I try to limit that to 4 days per month . I’m trying to incorporate regular exercise into my routine. Many people with insulin resistance use only diet and exercise as their treatment and do just fine. Thats the point i’m hoping to get to hopefully by the end of this year.

I wrote this so that people will go get checked and get proactive about being healthy. I hope this helped you.

Now is when we get into seeing something ~VS~ Imagining something

To see is defined as to perceive with the eyes; look at

When looking up the definition for imagine, the first meaning given is to form a mental image of something not actually present to the senses

The definition of imagine tells us that the image may be seen but the thing is not there, like a mirage.

First and foremost, when he said “you gotta see it, before you see it, or you never will see it” you have to be able to see with your spiritual eyes. In other words you have to see things through the holy spirit which is part of the trinity (God the father, God the son, and God the holy spirit). Which means you have to see What God has for you. So how can you see what God has for you if you are not in touch with the holy spirit. This is why I was so confused as to why I wasn’t getting some of the things I was asking and believing for, Because I was imagining something that’s not there, that God doesn’t have for me. I wasn’t seeing with a spiritual eye. I was out of tune with the holy spirit. I say this to say that there are blessings God has for us that are already in heaven, but we have to start wanting what he wants and seeing what he has and his will for us, not just imagining what we want!

10 Years ago I went to prom (May 23rd to be exact). It was the greatest night of my high school experience other than of course graduation. I wore a white gown that was heart shaped in the front. My back was out and I had a split that would have put Angelina Jolie to shame. My shoes and jewelry were all silver. It was a great night. I remember girls buying GiGi hunter dresses and bragging about how much better their dress was than everyone else’s. The most important part of prom for any girl is the dress. You won’t know it until you’ve seen it. Some go for the simple and minimalistic, others pull out all the stops. Either way, have fun when searching for the perfect dress and try on EVERY DRESS IN YOUR BUDGET!!!! I don;t care how it looks on the hanger try it on. Trust me, as someone who has spent time workimg in a dress shop I have seen a dress look a mess on the hanger but like a work of art on the right person.

The super family of gospel, The sheards, caused a buzz when they announced towards the middle of last year that they were shooting a reality show for BET. Many people have been wondering when the show would air and now we have a date. Kierra Sheard announced via instagram that their show would air starting April 7th on BET. Hopefully this will be nothing like that "Sisterhood" foolishness that is currently on.
