Karen Clark Sheard’s new Music Video and Review!!!

Gospel Icon Karen Clark Sheard just released her new video for the single “He Knows” ft. Dorinda Clark Cole via dagospeltruth.com. I’m sad I don’t have the video here for you as of yet but I’m working on it. If you want to watch the video click Here .

So, the video starts out with a glimpse of what looks like a journal or a diary. Then a Partial Silhouette of J.Moss talking and then it leads to Karen Singing. Before I go any further, I have to say George Mckenny is the bomb on some makeup. But anyways, So you see Karen standing in front of a window singing With a piece of silk fabric occasionally floating by.  In between beauty shots of Karen singing, there were Clips of people looking like they were worried about something (not sure what in particular). There was also a young men dancing in the video. You can only see a silhoutte of them but I think it was very appropriate for this video.  By the time the chorous comes we get our first glimpse of Dorinda lounging on a couch singing part of the chorous. While Dorinda is singing, There are scenes of a man drinking (if my eyes don’t deceive me it george mckenny) crying and looking distraught. Then the chorus comes back with Silhouettes of Dorinda and Karen, The young man dancing, and some nice beauty shots of them separately. Then we get a scene where a young woman is getting out of a car and then getting in bed with her husband. This will all make sense when you watch the video.

Update: I got the video from a user on Youtube! No copyright infringement intended!!!

What I Think:

I was surprisingly happy with this video. Even for major label gospel artist, the video’s tend to not be of the best quality with a few exceptions. Either that or you spend a lot of time waiting on a video and all you get is a recording of a performance you have probably already seen. This video had great cinematography, you could tell there was an actual “Treatment”, and everything was professionally done. The hair, makeup, and styling was on point. This video should be a “what a gospel artist video should look like. The only thing I can say is that I felt like the dancer was a little unnecessary. But at the same time it didn’t take anything away from the video plus the dancing was good so hey!!!!!!!

All in all I give this video 5 stars out of 5

★★★★★

P.S. Am I the only person who thinks KCS should have had her own label a long time ago. Now I want to see what she would do with an artist that is not a family member!!!!!

Celebration of gospel 2011 My quick Review!

Courtesy of BET.com

This years celebration of gospel was interesting. I almost don’t want to do this post because I really wasn’t moved or impressed with most of the performances.

The show began with kirk franklin Jumping around the stage while The singers sang (I wish they would get some credit). Next was Jessica Reedy, Y’anna Crawley, Leandria Johnson, Chante’ Moore, and Kelly Price singing “Because of who you are”. I Absolutely hate to say this but I hated this performance. It seemed like a group of women trying to prove they could out sing the other. I really wish they would have taken a cue from the 2007 performance of “Endow Me’ and brought it down some. There was sooooo much going on. Between wondering why Chante’ Moore was in that line up (I love her voice and music but her voice to me is too soft to fit in that line up), to wanting to slap whoever dressed Y’anna Crawley (that outfit was just rude). I believe that all these women were great on their own but collectively it was confusing and seemed like it was taking too long to end.  Later on in the evening Chaka Khan Tore it up with a piece of “Through the Fire”. Now personally I wish gospel artist talked about love more but I understand why people were thrown off by this selection but I was just happy to hear some good singing. Other people who performed were

  • Isreal Houghton
  • El Debarge
  • Smokey Norful
  • James Fortune
  • Byron cage
  • And many others
  • Mary Mary
  • Rance Allen Group (smashed!!!!!!!!!)

The highlight of the night came close to the end of the show when Whitney Houston Sung a duet with Kim Burrell and threw down.

Now don’t get me wrong, The performances weren’t completely horrible but there were a lot of iffy moments as far as singing and dress.

Speaking of dress

Taken from gospelconnoisseur.com no copyright infringement intended

What was with the styling this year?????? There was leather and sequin and a lot of just please don’t wear that any more. Of course Mary Mary looked good (Goo don’t play that foolishness), Jessica Reedy looked amazing in that blue dress, Chante’ Moore always looks beautiful, but honestly the rest of it was some foolishness (what in the world does y’anna crawley have on). There was some leather, what looked like some children’s clothes, and A lot of people who clothes were too small. I have to say before I forget that I am so glad that Kim Burrell and Whitney Houston didn’t come out looking a mess. Thank You!

I really wanted this to be a good one.  This year was very underwhelming.

Thats all I really Have to say!

Kierra Sheard to do Live Recording!!!!!!

For Years Fans of Gospel Star Kierra Sheard have been asking for a live recording. Well, it’s safe to say that Sheard and Her label (karew records/EMI gospel) were listening. Word has it sheard will be doing her live recording february 28th in chicago (am I the only person who finds it weird that her recording is said to be on a monday?!?!?!?!?!). The exact location has not been said as of yet but I know fans all around are excited. The last time fans got a hint of a live recording was when sheard put out “This is me” back in 06′ (remember the special edition C.D. that had the live version of the title track on there). There is also speculation that the new project will be titled “Free” and will also feature  her Bold Right Life Choir.
